Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't I just hire a developer?
A Senior Software Engineer's salary is about $150,000 per year. We do it for less than a quarter of that. Not only that, but you don't have to train or onboard us, and we take care of finding the right people to the job you need. Still, we do encourage you to hire your own in-house team if and when the software we develop becomes a vital part of you company.
Is there a limit on how many things I can ask for?
There's no limit to how many things you can queue. However, all requests will be delivered one by one. If you need to parallelise please contact us.
How fast will I receive the results?
On average most small experiments will be ready in a week or less. However, for more complex projects longer times are to be expected. You should treat the service as an asynchronous, part-time, hyper-focused technology enabler. If you require the throughput and response time of an in-house dev team, we encourage you to build it instead.
Do I get an estimation beforehand?
Of course! That's part of out service; we do the looking into it part too. And then you confirm if the times work for you. If the estimation doesn't work for you, we'll work on adjusting the scope. And of course you can always cancel your subscription. No questions asked.
Who is the team behind 1k Studio?
1k Studio is powered by the amazing community of members of 1k School. But don't worry. This is not a marketplace. You'll talk directly with with me, the founder of 1k School and 1k Studio.
What technologies do you use?
We build MVPs, therefore we try to develop as light and simple of a product as possible. Our bread and butter is the lastest and greatest web technologies like React, Next.js, TailwindCSS and Postgres. We'll also heavily lean on No-Code tools like Airtable, Google Sheets, Zapier, Retool, Jet Admin, Make, Notion, N8N and many more.
How do we communicate?
All communication will be done through a shared Kanban board. You'll be able to tweak the priorities of your backlog and we'll update you every step of the way. And of course there's always email.
What if I don't like the product I receive?
No worries. We will work on it for as long as it takes to get it right.
What if I just want a single MVP?
You can pause or cancel your subscription at any time, even the day before renewal. No questions asked. If you are looking for someone to develop a huge project or something that you don't think conforms to the subscription model, contact us.
Will you work on my existing project? Can I hire you to do some tasks?
We are not a development agency. Our workflow and performance comes from knowing our stacks and tools inside-out. That's why we can offer you incredible value for a fraction of the cost of a traditional agency. That means we will not work on your existing project or stack.
Will you maintain my new MVP? Can you be my CTO?
Our core value proposal is to give you the ability of validating and launching new ideas as fast and as cheaply as possible. How you grow your project, build a team and scale is then up to you.
